Institution of Fire Engineers,
Australia
Welcome to the official website
of the Australian
Branch of the IFE
The institution is the international qualifying organisation and learned society for fire engineering,
firefighting and fire safety professionals.
IFE is at the heart of the international fire and emergency community, promoting best practice and advancing the discipline for the benefit of society and supporting the professional development of members.
In Australia, we have around 700 members, and are one of the largest Branches in the world. A National Secretariat provides support to local co-ordinators in each of the states and territories who in turn have the ear of the grass roots membership. The entire infrastructure is about providing direct and tangible benefits to the individuals in the field.

 The
Institution of Fire Engineers Australia is proud to
present the International Firefighting Safety
Conference in Australia in 2010. This event will be
held over 3 days in the beautiful beach side suburb
of Glenelg in South Australia and offers something

private industry response crews at Major Hazards
Facilities to those in public service fire and
rescue organisations.
The 2010 IFSC has key note presentations from Dr
Denis Onieal (Superintendent of the US National Fire
Academy) on "The fire service of the future - its
about your environment", Dr Paul Barnes will present
on "When do managers need to think like first
responders" and Nelson Lawrence who will present on
